about
I shot out of my deranged sleep to the sound of my telephone. Their mother’s crying over the telephone: “trouble at home, they’re putting fists through windows”
“Sometimes, you can’t place responsibility on the ones you love, and it’s okay.”
“Can we work through this?” I asked as my heart fell into my throat.
“I don’t know.”
“Okay, I’m coming.”
I ran out to the field behind the sushi place, and there they were, serenely sprawled out on the grassy knoll. I approached, and found myself with a twisted and tearful face. “We can work through this, it’s been shown.”
They looked up at me, pleasant and lovely, and said, “sometimes, you must let go of those who you love, that you love, forever love, and it’s okay.”
I sat down beside them, and we hugged. I began to weep openly. “It’s okay,” they said. They reached into my pocket and revealed the letter that I had been toting around, and let it go into the breeze.
I yelled “No!” as it fluttered away, and reached out for it. They took my arm and hand down, saying, “it’s okay”. Then they sang to me... “da-dah da dah dah da da dah, da-dah da dah dah da da dah, da-dah da dah dah da da dah, da-dah da-da-dah...”
