Wesleyan Dream

from Esoterexorcism by great neck

/

about

They stood up. “Hit me.”
“I’m not hitting you.”
“HIT ME!” they screamed.
I could feel my rage boiling. There was lingering still the anticipatory adrenaline from an intruder in my bedroom; but also, admittedly, there was my underlying contempt for this individual and their refusal to join reality. Before what I knew was happening, I was sinking my fist into their face.
“AGAIN!” they kept screaming, and again I kept swinging. Each blow gave me greater struggle and more intense pain in the hand--however, they remained unphazed, unwaivering, aside from a glowing and palpable amount of glee. The conclusion of this charade and mind game had me shoving them out of my room and me locking my door, with my fist torn to pieces. I sat and wept before retiring for the evening, overwhelmed by emotion.
